gone were the Put3ska days and enter...Bing, Juan Pablo Dream's frontman, who lavishly crooned Jackson 5's Never Gonna Say Goodbye, Marvin Gaye's Sunny, Stevie Wonder's Uptight, Black Crowes' Hard to Handle and even a kundiman but with more funk-soul beatnik twist.
rained and contained in a likely chamber music, Juan Pablo still embodied a bath house of emotional fun that made everyone leave their comfortable seats. they bore catatonia and made dancing less awkward for rockers who resist on swaying their limbos. they are goddamn wackos in good sense. Juan Pablo must be suffering from hedonic treadmill syndrome - a hunger for more pleasure, born out of feeling good.
with literal humility (before and during the gig), they never were close to emotional bankruptcy especially when they were playing their slower originals. it was a perfect rainy night for me and i hope they could play in Davao.
